My Go-To Protein Smoothies

OK, I’ve come to accept the fact that I’m never going to be one of those protein shaker people. Can we just be honest for a second? Mixing protein powder with water or plain almond milk is not good. After a good crossfit session, I need a solid recovery drink. Since cutting back on fruit, I miss smoothies like there’s no tomorrow.

My favorite powder is Garden of Life Vegan Vanilla Protein. The vanilla flavor mixes well with different combinations, and it tastes amazing without the chalky texture.

I’ve been playing around with smoothie combinations, and here’s my two favorites:

Green Machine 

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 banana (or 1/4 if you’re low carb)
  • 3 strawberries
  • 1 tbsp nut butter
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 8 ice cubes

Strawberry Vanilla 

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 8 ice cubes
