Well, if you’ve been following me for quite some time, you may have noticed I’ve been pretty quiet here on the blog and social media these last few months. Well, there may have been a secret we were keeping…
we’re expecting a baby boy in December!
I’m 19 weeks today and well into my second trimester! My heart is just so full to know that we are going to be parents. It’s been hard to keep this secret for so long, but living 3,000 miles away from family and close friends and working from home has made it easier, I suppose! 🙂
I found out I was pregnant in April, four days before our first year wedding anniversary, and a week before my 30th birthday! I found out while James was on duty (when he spends the night on the submarine), so I had to wait 24 long, grueling hours for him to come home and share the news. We’ve spent the last few months sharing the news with our family and closest friends.
My first trimester was a roller coaster, a “perpetual hangover” as I’d describe. During that time you may have noticed my lack of posts and stories. I didn’t experience too much morning sickness, but the fatigue was killer. Some days I just couldn’t stop yawning. Other days, I had debilitating fatigue that required a nap in the afternoon. I had days where walking Lady around the block was all I had in me. I was so grateful for working from home. I have so much respect for the women I know who have to get up every day and walk into the office and put on a face while they hide their pregnancy. Seriously, kudos to you.
So far the second trimester is heaven-sent! My energy is back (somewhat), though now I’m experiencing a new array of things: leg cramps, trouble sleeping, random appetite. Pregnancy is a journey, that’s for sure!
We feel so grateful to have this opportunity to bring a baby into this world. The timing is truly a blessing with James’ deployment schedule, even though we don’t know exactly what the future holds (story of our lives, I suppose). But during this exciting time my heart is also with those who are struggling with infertility. I do not take this for granted for a second.
I hope to get back on the blog train and share more life updates – there certainly will be more to come! Would you be interested in more posts about my pregnancy? Let me know what questions you have. Yes, I’m still doing Crossfit. Yes, I’m still eating a mostly plant-based diet without a protein deficient.
More to come, but in the meantime thank you for all of your kind words and support!
